Why Muscle Mommies Age Slower Than Normal Women

Women over the age of 30 who have had children may notice that their bodies seem different than before. Perhaps it is increased soreness, weight gain, a decrease in energy or a combination of the three. While this is a normal part of the aging process, there are ways to fight back, and one of the best is to become a muscle mommy.
What is a Muscle Mommy?
Muscle moms are mature, attractive women who have gotten themselves into shape after pregnancy. Also known as fitness models, amazons or female bodybuilders, the term may also be used for muscular women over the age of 30 who do not have children. These women tend to be supremely fit with toned, shredded bodies that are the result of spending lots of time in the gym. They sometimes post muscle mommy tiktok videos to show off their progress and gain followers.
Aside from their strength and amazing physique, these women also age much slower than women who do not work out. In fact, it isn’t unusual for a muscle mom in her forties or fifties to look hotter than women half her age, but why is this the case?
Exercising Builds and Preserves Leaner Muscle Mass
After a woman reaches the age of thirty, she begins losing three to eight percent of her muscle mass each decade, and the decline accelerates after the age of fifty. This phenomenon is referred to as sarcopenia and leads to things such increased fatigue, soreness, and greater susceptibility to injury. The good news is that strength training has been scientifically proven to combat sarcopenia. This is because weight lifting stimulates the muscle fibers, prompting them to adapt and grow, which maintains their functionality.

As women age, their bones become less dense, especially after menopause. A decrease in bone density increases the likelihood of fractures and osteoporosis. However, a well-muscled woman will have greater bone density than other females her age which will give her greater protection from injury and disease. Female muscle is very active metabolically, which means it will burn calories even during rest. Middle aged women that do regular strength training will speed up their metabolism while also offsetting hormonal changes.

Let’s face it, society defines women more by their appearance than it does men, and as a consequence, aging tends to be psychologically and physically harder on women than it is men. This is why strength training is so important, especially for women over the age of thirty. Aside from the fact that becoming a muscle mom will make you look and feel great, getting stares from men that want you and less disciplined women that wish they could be you, you will also age more gracefully while protecting yourself from age related disease and decline.
